*Pre-registration is required. Drop-ins will be accepted in a scheduled class if space is still available.
*Price includes class instruction fee and handout. Supply lists are provided below.
*Small class sizes: usually 2-4 people, adults only. Younger students may be accepted on a case-by-case basis.
*Individual lessons available for $20 an hour.

Classes are taught by Sheila Root, jewelry designer and co-owner of Root's Beads, along with husband Richard Root.. Sheila is a Master Jeweler and has been designing and selling jewelry internationally for two decades.  She has owned bead stores in several states across the country since 1992 and taught hundreds of people to bead, including other bead shop owners and beading teachers.  She is known for her beading and beading techniques throughout the country.

Basic Stringing Techniques:

 

Basic Bead Stringing. 3 Hours. $27.50. Learn fundamental techniques of stringing on flex wire, using crimp beads, crimp covers, and attaching findings professionally by making a single strand necklace and bracelet with beads of your choice.          Material list

 

 

Knotting. 2 Hours. $22.50. Knot between pearls or gemstones with silk or nylon and finish the ends with bead tips and a clasp.     Material List

 

Beaded Watch Band. 3 Hours. $27.50. Create a beautiful beaded band to show off your wrist watch.

  

 

 

 

Advanced Bead Stringing. 5 Hours. $40. Create a multistrand necklace with a detachable centerpiece. Necklace can be worn either with or without the centerpiece.

Rose Montee Crystal Bracelet.  2 Hours.  $22.50.  Crystal bicones and Rose Montees weave together in a sparkling "tennis bracelet" style cuff with a slide clasp.

Wire Techniques:

Bead Earring Construction. 2 Hours. $22.50. Complete two pairs of earrings using two different techniques with headpins and eye pins.

Wire Wrapping Stone and Beads. 3 Hours. $27.50. Learn to wrap three styles of objects: an irregular shaped stone, a large bead, and a flat piece such as a coin, donut, or cabochon.

Linked Wire Necklace. 4 Hours. $35. A necklace will be made by linking beads together, making wrapped wire links on each side of your favorite beads. Great technique for bracelets and chain pieces too.      Material List

 

Hammered Wire Bracelet. 5 Hours. $40. Learn metal working techniques, shaping and hardening wire by bending and hammering to create a contemporary "charm bracelet" with a roll of wire and a handful of beads.

Dancing Beads Bracelet. 4 Hours. $35. Make a bouncy summer bracelet of gemstones, pearls, or glass using wire, chain, and your favorite beads.

Beaded Wire Cuff Bracelet. 4 Hours. $35. Learn to make a cuff bracelet of hammered wire with bead embellishment. Dress it up or down with your choice of beads.

Copper Wire Cuff Bracelet.  4 Hours.  $35.  Learn to work with wire to create this cuff bracelet from multiple gauges of copper wire.  Techniques include wire twisting, binding multiple wires together, shaping a flat form into cuff shape, creating a clasp, finishing.

Seed Bead Techniques:

 

Spiral Rope Bracelet. 4 Hours. $35. A beginning seed bead technique great for bracelets, chokers, necklaces, and lariats.

Russian Leaf and Fringe Class.  4 Hours.  $35

An intermediate class not recommended for your first seed bead project.   Learn to make Russian leaves and branch fringe (coraling).

Zig-Zag Peyote Bracelet. 4 Hours. $35. This technique creates a three-dimentional sculptural effect in even count peyote stitch. Recommended pre-requisite: Peyote Bead Bracelet or other experience with flat peyote stitch.       Material List

Double Spiral Rope Bracelet. 4 Hours. $35. Make an advanced version of the Spiral Rope using multiple bead sizes and Power Pro braided thread. Recommended pre-requisite: Spiral Rope Bracelet.              Material List

Peyote Bead Bracelet. 5 Hours. $40. Learn tubular bead making in flat even-count peyote stitch with Delicas and finish into a bracelet with glass bead accents. Pre-requisite: Basic Bead Stringing.

Embellished Donut. 5 Hours. $40. Cage a stone "donut" in seed beads, add a bail, and embellish with fringe and center beading.

Caterpillar Bracelet. 5 Hours. $40. Make a flat-backed fluffy bracelet with a frill of seed beads and accent beads.

 

Reversible Herringbone Bracelet. 4 Hours. $35. Create a reversible band bracelet in two different color combination with herringbone stitch. Can also be made in smaller beads for a more delicate look.

Bead Embellishment. 8 Hours (Meets 3 times: 4 hours + 2 hours + 2 hours) $60. Learn to set a cabochon in beads on a backing, embellish around the cabochon, finish the back and edges ready for use as a pendant or pin.
Pre-requisite: some seed bead experience. Not recommended for your first project.

 

Free-Form Peyote Bracelet.  5 Hours.  $40.  Learn free-form peyote techniques while making a bracelet.  Prerequisite:  Peyote Bead Bracelet class or previous experience with even-count peyote stitch.

Netted Bracelet with Crystal Accents.  4 Hours.  $35.  Create a bracelet using a netting stitch with Swarovski crystal accents to make it sparkle.  A picot edge in contrasting color sets off the ruffles.  Bracelet is flat on the back for ease in wearing.
